Print Mixing

Top: J.Crew (on sale with code!) / Skirt: J.Crew (on sale with code!) / Bag: Marc Jacobs / Hat: Vince Camuto / Earrings: Kate Spade / Sandals: Sam Edelman / Sunnies: TOMS / Watch: Kate Spade / Bracelets: Sequin Cara

Today I'm feeling inspired by fun prints!
With working in the fashion industry I often see people afraid to mix prints together. I always tell my customers to be daring, get creative, and push yourself past the fashion edge.
The outfit can result in something complex, fun, and effortless.

Pink Lace

Top: Ann Taylor / Skirt: Zara / Necklace: J.Crew (similar here) / Bracelet: Arden B. (way old similar here) / Sunnies: Kate Spade / Bag: HM / Shoes: Kate Spade / Lips: Mac-Crosswires

Lace. Bold jewels. Pink. Is there anything more girly?! This is probably one of my favorite outfits to date. I got this beautiful lace blouse from Ann Taylor's petite line. When it comes to petite sizes I usually have to tweek it here, and take it in there. To my surprise the top fit like a glove! I skipped going to the tailor, and got instant gratification (plus saved some money)! Unfortunately the skirt has a different story. When I bought the skirt from Zara it needed a petite makeover. The waist needed to be taken in, hem shortened, and stitched down the sides. My new tailor jokes with me saying that I need to find someone else because my clothes are too hard to work with due to working with small amounts of fabric. A week later the skirt was finally ready, and it fit perfectly.  Overwhelmed with excitement I put this outfit together the next day! Once I stepped out my door I instantly felt  amazing!

What is your go-to outfit that makes you feel amazing?

Spend vs Splurge

Left image: { Top: Haute Hippie / Jeans: 7 For All Mankind / Bag: Kate Spade / Shoes: Kate Spade / Bracelet: Banana Republic / Earrings: Banana Republic }
Right Image: {Top: HM  / Jeans: 7 For All Mankind / Bag: Aldo / Shoes: F21 / Bracelet: Target / Earrings: Charlotte Russe  }

 Lately I've been coveting over these printed jeans! The floral print is so fun, and captures my heart every time! Today I thought I would make an outfit where one would be costly, and the other would be  more frugal. Can you guess what image is the spend, and which is the splurge? (Answer will be left in the comments).

Thank you for all that participated in the giveaway! The winner will be announced on Monday!

Thigh Slim Down

 Top: Lululemon / Bottoms: Lululemon-Wunder Unders (all sold out of diamond pattern) / Socks: Pure Barre / Bracelets: Lily & Laura / Barre: made by my wonderful husband (if a barre isn't available try using a chair or couch)

As a Pure Barre teacher and addict ("Hello my name is Jessica and I'm an LTB addict"), I love working my inner thighs. Here's one of my favorite ways to get my shake on.
You are probably asking yourself

WHAT?
WHY?
HOW?

Not to fear fellow readers! I'll show you the way of getting your shake on. Before I explain proper form, let's discuss some key concepts. Movement in Pure Barre is limited to a small range of motion, which targets/isolates specific muscles, and is low impact on your joints. Talk about a smart workout! Think "minimize the movement" to "maximize the burn." The small repetitive movements will cause to muscle to shake. I call this the "Elvis Effect." The shake is telling you that your muscle is reaching the point of fatigue. Each set is followed by a stretch, which helps to build long lean muscle. Words of advice:
Embrace the shake.

Keep the legs wider than the framework of your body. Ideally you'd want to spread your knees so far apart that in a side profile your legs would align with your torso. Most people are not this flexible, but it's a great visual! By keeping your legs open, the workout is isolated to the inner, and tops sides of your thigh. Try to push with the inner thigh, and pull with the outer thigh. When your legs creep toward the midline of your body, the exercise is no longer working your inner thighs!
I love the workout Pure Barre provides! I love the shake I get from taking class! You might say that I take my workout that same way I take my drinks, shaken, not stirred.

Modifications: For those with knee injuries, try working a little higher. Don't bend your knees as much. This will take pressure off your joints.

JT's Easter in AZ

Shirt: Zara / Pants: J Brand / Necklace: J.Crew similar here / Shoes: Louise et Cie / Bag: Halogen / Sunnies: Kate Spade / Bracelets: F21 here & here / Lips: Mac-Just a Bite

Another holiday spent away from home. Easter was once filled with frantic rushing between grandma's ham hock dinner and Davis county festivities. At the time, I felt so overwhelmed (and full) from rushing between dinners, people, and homes anytime a holiday would present itself. After three meals I could no longer stand the sight or taste of ham. "Please sir....no more." How I longed for a slow-paced holiday where my only stress stemmed from my minds eternal battle of what to wear that day. I got what I asked for, and dare I say I miss the craziness?! Our day consisted of going to church, coming home to work on the computer, Todd giving me a basket of roses, and playing at the pool. Sounds like another chillaxed Sunday. Sounds almost perfect, but again I miss the craziness. Maybe it was the love of challenging the clock (and speeding through traffic) and arriving at the in-laws no later than requested, or scaring my nephew by saying that Coco (My grandma made up "Coco" the scary monster to keep us kids inline. A perfect name to strike fear into a child's heart, right?) is going to get him if he doesn't behave.
I thrive on crazy. I guess that's why I have two jobs, and decided to write a blog. Easter didn't feel the same this year without the crazy. The whole being an adult thing is more difficult than it seemed, with us having to start our new holiday traditions.  All I need to do now is learn how to make a ham......

Safari Chic

Jumper: Ella Moss / Shoes: Sam Edelman / Bag: Loeffler Randall / Bracelets: HM / Earrings: Marc Jacobs

Do you eve wake up and feel like taking a walk on the wild side? Deciding to go for an outfit that's out of the norm, and surpasses your fashion edge? I've just the recipe.
Today I'm feeling very inspired by safari vibes and neutral color palettes. With jumpers being big this season they are not only a statement piece for spring weather, but are comfortable as well. Talk about a two for one deal. By adding the gladiator flats mixed with gold accents completes the head to toe safari chic look.
Make sure you tune in tomorrow for a special treat in honor of reaching 100 J Petite Facebook likes.

Pardon My French

Shirt: J.Crew / Jeans: Hudson / Shoes: Sam Edelman (similar here) / Belt: Urban Outfitters (old similar here) / Bag: HM (similar here) / Bracelets: CC, CC, F21 (similar here), J.Crew, Gift / Lips: Sugar-Coral

It's hard to believe but these are the first white pants I've ever owned! With being as clumsy as I am, I knew that white pants and I would never live in harmony where the pants stayed crisp white, and my investment in the jeans wouldn't go to waste. I finally caved in, primarily due to the cute outfit ideas on pintrest, and decided to go against my own thinking and go for the white pants. My heart said yes, but my mind said no. I finally get home, pants in hand, and what do I do next?! I drop them on the black asphalt accompanied by a loud profanity that left my mouth! Pardon my french. There they were my new Hudsons covered in black :( NOOOOOOOOOOO!! Thinking that my spring look of crisp white denim would be no more, I rushed to the laundry, rolled up my sleeves, and got to work.  After some intense scrubbing, and bleach my new white beauties were saved! The white denim was preserved......for the time being at least ;)
