It's officially day 2 of post vacation, and I'm still not back on track. I'm such a creature of habit, and whenever my schedule gets out of whack I have such a hard time getting back to normal life. My bags are still packed in my car, dirty laundry is everywhere, packages are needing to be shipped out, emails are needing to be read, and I've been boycotting cleaning my house like the plague. #wifefail.

With New Years Eve being this week, I've been trying to wrap my mind on what to wear. Todd and I are probably going to keep it low key this year, and celebrate with some of our dental school friends. Since we probably won't be out terribly late (I teach early the next morning) I'm thinking that I might wear this golden ensemble since it's comfy yet dressy because of the metallics. Two weeks ago I posted a New Years Eve collage, and this top was apart of it. After posting it I decided that I absolutely needed this top, and was so pleased when I got it in the mail a few days later. If you are looking for a comfy, stylish, and flattering top this one from Topshop is definitely it! I loved pairing this outfit with some burgundy lips, and a jewel toned bag to give an "oomph" of color to the look.

Workout Wednesday: Best Tips To Complete Weight loss and Fitness 2016 New Year's Resolutions

Can you believe that Christmas is in 2 days, which means we are so close to entering 2016?!!! With cinnamon bunt cakes, ginger bread men, and Stephen's candy cane hot chocolate occupying our kitchens, who can even have a clear enough mind to start setting New Year's resolutions. Christmas gets busier and busier every year for people, and by the time January 1st hits resolutions are scrambled together without a clear plan on how to achieve them. We can all relate to setting those resolutions, and by the time mid February comes along our goals are already forgotten.

One of my greatest completed resolutions so far has been when I ran my first marathon 4 years ago. Pre-marathon training I was not a runner. I told myself that I had knee problems (I have no clue where that thought even came from), and that I would never be a runner. Being the ambitious and athletic person I am I set up a goal to run a full marathon in April. I couldn't believe how much work, and mental strength it took me to complete my goal, but I am proud to say that I did it. When race day came I was blown away with my attempt to run the whole race without breaking my stride. As I crossed the finish line I was overwhelmed with joy, and cried as I saw Todd. These weren't tears of pain, but of tears of happiness and pride I had for myself. When I found out that I did the race within 4 and a half hours I couldn't believe that I ran faster than I expected. Moral of the story- You can do anything you put your mind to.

Here are my tips that will help you with your diet, weight loss, and fitness goals for the New Year.

1. Be Realistic and Know Your Limits
Setting a goal such as I am not going to each chocolate for a year, or that you are going to lost 20 pounds by February isn't realistic. We all have that one food that tempts us whenever we walk into the grocery store, and in time of need will fall into devouring that item. When you know that there is something that tempts you try not to eliminate that completely because when you cave into desire the guilt will set you back in completing your goals. In the terms of major weight loss this is something that is different for each individual. While the majority of us can't physically lose that amount of weight in such a short period of time, my advice is to know your body and set realistic weight loss goals.

2. Write Down Your Plan and Have it Visible in the Home
I'm a big believer in this 200%!! When I train for marathons what I do is type up an excel spread sheet that includes what mileage I am suppose to run for each day. I put this on my fridge because that is something you look at everyday. I have a highlighter, and highlight each day I complete my run. There is a mental gratification people get when they are able to check off a step to completing a goal.

3. Plan Ahead With Your Diet
We have all been in that situation where we put ourself on a strict diet, and when that time comes when hunger takes over and you are SOL. With no food in site that follows the diet guidelines you start to splurge on whatever is available. To maintain momentum with your diet plan ahead by bringing a lunch to work, meal prep for the week, and have healthy treats stored in your bag.

4. Find Pleasure and Fun in Exercise
Before I started teaching Pure Barre, I never liked group fitness classes. When I took my first PB class I was so surprised how much I loved it. So many of my clients have told me that they are motivated to come take class everyday because it's something they have fun with, and look forward to it. When you find something that you enjoy whether it be Pure Barre, Yoga, or the gym you'll be more likely to workout in those times when you feel no motivation for physical activity.

5. Create a Cheat Day
Once a week create a day where you are allowed to eat those foods that you have been lusting after all week. By keeping your appetites fed you are less likely to binge whenever the time of weakness hits.

6. Set a Deadline
No goal is complete without a start and end date. With keeping a goal so open how are you suppose to know on how close you are to completion? When you know you are so close to completing your goal it gives you motivation to keep on track.

7. Track Your Progress
Now this can come in many forms, but my favorite is by far taking pictures of yourself. It may not sound fun to take a picture of yourself in a bikini when you don't feel your best, but it will give you motivation to push through. Take a picture of yourself every week, and you can look back to see the transformation within your body.

Give The Gift of Him This Christmas

I think we can all relate that with the holidays being so busy we find ourselves getting caught up in all the holiday noise, and forget the true meaning of Christmas. As I have said in a previous post that I am a convert to the LDS church, and have been an active member for 11 years (conversion story here). With having religion being the central part of my life I try to make a conscious effort to remember the meaning of Christmas which is remembering the Saviors birth, and how he has influenced my life. When thinking about what to get my mother in law this Christmas I decided that I wanted to give her something that would promote spiritual growth. I came up with this idea randomly last week when I stumbled in Home Goods looking for wrapping paper. With wrapping paper in hand I was waiting in the checkout line when I looked over to see a journal saying on the cover "be still and know that I am God.". Initially it was the cute pink cover with gold lettering that caught my eye, and the killer deal of $5 made me decide to step out of line to take a deeper look into this journal (I couldn't find the exact one online but here are similar ones from the same brand here and here). When flipping through the pages I noticed that each entry included a verse from the bible. I had this sudden urge that I needed to buy this for my mother in law.

With being a Latter Day Saint church leaders always encourage members to read, and study the scriptures daily to deepen our understanding of the gospel. During the beginning of the year goals are set to read scriptures daily, and even have a scripture study guideline to show where you need to be each day.  I decided that this journal would be such a great gift to give my mother in law not because it's a physical object I can wrap for Christmas Eve, but a way to ignite a fire to study everyday, and keep a written record of her testimony, spiritual reflection, quotes, and much much more. Since the journal was filled with scriptures from the bible, I went ahead and wrote down scriptures from the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and General Conference talks through out the journal. I wrote randomly through the pages of the journal to show my love for the gospel, and to give a personal touch to the gift.

Seek not for riches but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich.  ~ D&C 6:7

I have been looking forward to this day because Todd, Django, and I are heading to Utah for Christmas. Last week was beyond busy in preparation for our leave due to work, shooting, cleaning, packing, and doing last minute Christmas shopping.

Two weeks ago Todd, Ashley Rae, and I drove 2 hours to Flagstaff to do a bridal shoot in the snow. This whole plan was created by Ashley and I on Friday, and somehow we managed to get the dress, florals, and makeup team together to shoot in 2 days. Talk about being hustlers. When we got to Flagstaff it was absolutely gorgeous with all the white snow. I honestly felt like a modern day snow white with Todd being my prince. After shooting for 40 minutes I all of a sudden felt super nauseous, and felt so weak that my whole body migrated to the snowy ground (no i'm not pregnant). With ringing in my ears I couldn't find my strength. Luckily Todd was behind me to carry me to the car. I have never experienced such a bodily reaction in my life, and am not sure what triggered it. The cold? The elevation? Was I hungry?

I was super bummed that we weren't able to complete the shoot, and didn't want to disappoint my dear friend. This green dress was going to be our second look, but had to take a back seat due to my inability to shoot.

I reached out to Melinda to shoot my vision who is a new fellow Midwestern wife. We tried to shoot mid week, and finally made it happen on Saturday. I was so happy to have shot with Melinda who is such a sweet soul.

Next time we chat I'll be in Utah. Peace out AZ!
