Petite Review on Free People "Perfectly Victorian" Minidress

Dress: Free People (also comes in another color-if you love this dress like me order it before it goes on backorder again) / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell (order these before they go out of stock too- also here, here / these shoes would also look cute with the dress here) / Bag: Gigi New York c/o / Bracelets: Flowerchild c/o, Beaded by W c/o , similar here and here, Loren Hope c/o / Sunnies: Quay Australia / Lips: NARS-Dragon Girl

I have been waiting for this dress to come in now for a couple weeks, and I was ecstatic when it arrived at my door step last Friday. Before messaging my Nordstrom gal (mama Wendi - she's basically my Arizona mother that I used to work with, and we have become extremely close) to order me this dress I first saw it on Instagram, and immediately fell in love. I have every color in the world in my closet, but no cobalt blue. Ok I lie. I have a pair of cobalt pants, but wanted more of this color. Due to the popularity of this dress it was back ordered for 3 weeks, and couldn't wait for it to come in. As I have mentioned before Free People is always a wild card for my body type, because the brand runs large in my opinion. The Free People esthetic in their clothing is that loose boho vibe, but sometimes the looseness is over powering to my body. I decided that I would order it anyway because I was obsessed with the color, and if it was too big than oh well.

When the UPS man arrived at my door I screamed for joy to see my Nordstrom package arrived. I reached for the closest sharp object to tear apart the box to reveal my long awaited dress. I immediately went in my office to throw it on in front of the mirror, and was so happy it fit! Now when I say fit I looked for a couple things: narrowness of the shoulders, how the dress flares out from the armpit to the hem, and length of the dress. The shoulders fit great, and was surprised how the fullness of the sleeve didn't overpower me. Now when I say flare from the armpit to the hem I mean this. If the dress flares too much away from the bust area then the dress will appear huge vs the giving that loose boho vibe. Since I don't have much of a chest to fill the bust area I have to be very conscious of the fit in my upper body. As I was evaluating the dress on my body I liked how it fit in the bust region. I won't lie I could take it in to be "ideal/perfect" but it doesn't bother me enough that I would spend the money. Online they call this a mini dress, but to me it fits perfectly on my 5'2 stature (I finally grew you guys. Whoop whoop). Last note I want to make about this dress. This dress is perfect for going into summer because the fabric breaths, it flows away from your body (less worry about sweat marks #thestruggleisreal), and is extremely comfortable.

I know I am going to be getting lots of use out of this dress when the treacherous summer heats start hitting AZ.
