During all last week I lived in short sleeves, and light layers to accompany the change from winter to spring here in Arizona. I was talking to my dad yesterday getting some painting advice for my office (I am currently re designing it. Blog post to come), and asked him how was the weather back in Utah.  He told me that they are going through a warm phase, and are in the high 60s. I laughed and replied "Well....I'm in the high 80s."#summeriscoming

After packing up all my sweaters last week I finished going through my closet looking for pieces that needed altering. After I loaded up a bag of clothes I headed over to Nordstrom to get some alterations. While waiting for a pair of jeans to be hemmed I wondered around my favorite store eyeballing the new spring swag. One item that popped out to me was this shirt from Free People. Normally I'm hesitant about trying on Free People because they are 80% of the time too long and big for my body type. When looking at the shirt it looked cropped which means it might hit me in the perfect place. Once I hit the fitting room I was obsessed that this shirt was loose, comfy, and hit me in the right place. Once I got home I tossed this shirt on with my favorite pair of jeans from Alixandra Collections, and headed out for a couple of family shoots.

You saw how I mixed my new top with old pieces, now it's your turn to show how you mix up your wardrobe. I'm so pleased to be co-hosting this link up with Lauren from Fizz and Frosting

Learning How to Shoot...

You probably have noticed lately that some of my posts have been coming out later in the morning than usual. As of lately I've been doing free shoots to get some experience with my camera I got from Todd for my birthday. All night I've been swamped with editing, and evaluating what I can do better for my next shoot thus leading me to slack on posting at my normal time of the day. Anyways... just thought I would share some pics that I have worked on lately with some pretty amazing people.

Wellness Wednesday: Whats for Dessert? Pina Colada Isagenix of Course....

With the heat turning up a couple notches here in Arizona, cold treats and dessert seem to be the theme in the Edmunds household. One of my biggest faults is that I love dessert, and always try to find healthy creative ways to fill my sweet needs. It's no surprise that I love Isagenix (previous post here), and randomly put together a pina colada Isagenix recipe one night when the sweet tooth was in full force. By digging through my pantry and fridge I was able to find easy ingredients that would give me a tasty pina colada! What I love about the Isagenix lean shake is that it helps curb hunger, aids in digestion with enzymes, and helps promote formation of lean muscle.

Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 2 scoops of Isagenix Isalean Shake in Creamy Vanilla (I always use vanilla because it's an easy flavor to mask)
  • Coconut water
  • Pina Colada cocktail mix ( I just bought this one at the store forever ago, but I'm sure you can find a better quality one at whole foods) - I use about a cap full
  • Frozen pineapple
  • Ice
  • Optional: Use a whole banana for a more creamy smoothy
Steps:
  • Place 8 ounces of coconut water in the blender (I absolutely love my Ninja)
  • Put 2 scoops of Isagenix in the water along with pineapple, and a cap full of Pina Colda cocktail mix.
  • Finally place ice into blender, and turn on until blended smooth.
Enjoy!

The dream team did it again! A couple months back I had the honor of modeling some dresses for Cleo and Clementine, and I have been trying to spread out the posts so it doesn't seem like J Petite is a wedding site ;) Who doesn't love pretty feminine inspiration to start off your Tuesday. Have a wonderful day!

Tempe

Photography: Jamee Edwards
Dress: Shein (ONLY $16!) c/o / Necklace: Kendra Scott c/o / Sunnies: Michael Kors / Hat: Target / Bag: Michael Kors / Shoes: Seychelles (super comfortable, and only $109. I am literally obsessed, and have been wearing them non stop) / Bralette: Nena Intimates c/o (perfect bra for petite busts!) / Lips: Colourpop-Scrooge
One of the things I absolutely love about blogging is going on shoots throughout the Arizona valley. With Todd's life revolving around a 10 mile radius from home to school-Costco-Walmart-Sprouts we don't get away much to explore. While I am all about exploring the state that we have lived in for almost 3 years he's comfortable staying close to home. Whenever I work with a photographer I love to shoot where ever they want because it gives me a new opportunity to explore. Last week I met up with Jamee to shoot some looks in Tempe. We have shot here once before, and I absolutely love this city because it reminds me of back when I was in college. After we got done shooting I was getting a little "hangry," and didn't want to wait thirty plus minutes to eat with Todd at home. When a girls gotta eat a girls gotta eat.....

I found a place to park in Tempe marketplace to start my search for food. As I was walking down the street in pursuit of a full belly I was so enchanted by this cute city. With the streets being narrow, and full of people I felt like I was back in Salt Lake city. I miss more of the urban culture (not saying Utah is super "urban"), and love the hustle of streets. One of the things that caught my attention was this chalk wall saying "Before I Die I Will...." that anyone can write on. When reading what others have wrote it was a mixture between deep thought, and comedic relief.

Living in uber family suburbs since we've been married I am hoping that when we move for residency, whether it be here or in another state, we can move somewhere similar to Tempe.

Petite Review Shein dress: I got this dress in an xs, and it was a little big in the torso. The torso was taken in. The sleeves were about 2 inches to long for my arm length, and were taken up. The shoulders were perfect, which is one of the hardest things to find when being petite.

The Last Bit of Winter

Poncho: Alixandra Collections c/o (get 10% off using ode Jpetite10) / Layering Tee: Alixandra Collections c/o / Pants: Alixandra Collections c/o / Boots: Frye / Bag: Michael Kors

I was going through some of my folders on my computer, and came across this outfit post that I totally forgot about. It's actually kind of fitting that this is a winter look because within the past two weeks Arizona has gone from winter to spring in a blink of an eye. This week I have officially packed up all my sweaters out of my closet, and made room for some new spring newbies :)

While the rest of the US is still in winter we freaks in Arizona are experiencing an early spring. Every time the dash in my car reads 80 plus degrees I grind my teeth knowing that the 100s are soon on its way. For now enjoy the rest of my winter outfits because you are going to be seeing full blown spring on the blog soon.
