Merry Christmas XOXO The Edmunds

Merry Christmas everyone from my family to yours! Since we do a Christmas card every year I wanted to share with you all the 2017 card. Normally we have family pictures done, but life got so crazy with the move that I just used some pics from a shoot we did this year.

Since we have lived away from home for a couple years I like to include a couple paragraphs of what we have been up to on the back of our card to keep our loved ones informed about our life.

The back of our card reads:

In 2017 Todd graduated from Dental school at Midwestern University in Phoenix Arizona, and was so thrilled to have some of his family attend his graduation. In June the Edmunds moved to Dallas Texas for Todd to train as an Oral Surgery intern at Parkland Hospital for a year. Todd is currently adjusting to his crazy doctor schedule, flying out for Oral Surgery residency interviews, and tries to spend as much time as he can with his family at home.

In 2017 Jess continued to grow her businesses, added on another, and had so much fun doing it. Her blog still keeps here very busy, and had a few of her shoots published this year. When the Edmunds moved to Dallas, Jess started to teach at three local Pure Barre locations. Todd and Jess started a business together, and was able to buy a new car from the income they brought in from their business.

2017 has become a rough year for Django because he had to move out of his first home in Phoenix. He's adjusting to living in a new apartment, and spends most of his time with Jess when she works from home. He still loves to be cuddled at night, and play with his toys. Django still hates the cold.

The Edmunds anticipate that 2018 will be full of moving, packing, unpacking, and exploring a new city.

Twisted Backless Sweater

Photography: Ella B Photo
Top: ASTR (comes in 4 colors!) / Jeans: AG / Bag: Rebecca Minkoff / Boots: Frye (old similar here, and here) / Beanie: BP / Necklaces: Shane Co c/o + Baublebar c/o / Rings: Free People / Lips: Pucker & Pout - Caramel Apple

I'm officially 24 hours from being back home, and I can't even contain my excitement!!! I originally thought I was suppose to be leaving this morning, but with the hustle of holiday season I accidentally wrote it in my planner wrong. It's actually ok that I'm not leaving until tomorrow because it gives me a chance to actually pack (#procrastinator).

I have fallen absolutely in love with this ASTR sweater, and I know this will be one of the sweaters that comes home with me to Utah. Over the past year I have become OBSESSED (literally obsessed) with any type of open back whether it be a sweater, blouse, Pure Barre workout tank, or a dress. Some of the open back sweaters don't fit me very well because it won't fit my narrow shoulders, and thus looks horrible on me. I was so happy that this sweater actually fits on my shoulders , and I can even pull it down to make it off the shoulder.

Have you fallen in love with the open back sweater trend?

Birthday Week is Here

Photography: Ella B Photo
Dress: BP (under $50, and comes in three colors!) / Tights: Commando (LOVE!) / Bag: Vici (similar here) / Jacket: Zara (old but almost exact here, here, and here) / Shoes: HM (old similar here) / Rings: Free People / Hat: Free People / Lips: Pucker & Pout - Caramel Apple

I'm not one to be modest, but I freaking love my birthday! Today is officially my birthday, but if you have been following me for a while then you know that my birthday is stretched over a week. Birthday week started back when I was in college because I could never celebrate my birthday on the actual day due to college finals. Since I was so studious in college I never wanted to take time off studying for finals to celebrate, and naturally finals week evolved into a week of mini celebrations for me. I have especially loved birthday week since being married, not because of all the celebrations of me, but it almost forces Todd and I to be happy/do happy things during a time of year that is normally stressful for us.

Yesterday marked the first day of birthday week, and it started off by teaching Pure Barre in Dallas followed by me going to a rock climbing gym by myself until Todd came home. For the past couple months I have been itching to get back into climbing, and decided to blow the ol-chalk off (sort of speak) my climbing shoes to give them a go. Treating myself to a day of rock climbing was extremely therapeutic for me, and allowed me to revisit an old passion of mine. When I got home in the evening Todd was finishing up a meeting, and he surprised me with an ice cream cake. We finished the night off by cuddling while watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

When my alarm went off at 3:30 am this morning Todd started off my birthday by wishing me a happy day. Tonight's birthday festivities are going to consist of putting up our Christmas tree together, ordering our 7 year anniversary ornament, and going to see Christmas lights.

Let's Turn Weekends Up a Notch

Photography: Ella B Photo
Top: Zara (old similar herehere and here) / Skirt: Chicwish c/o / Bag: Rebecca Minkoff / Tights: Not Sure (similar here and here) / Shoes: WHBM (They are velvet!) / Rings: Free People / Sunnies: Quay / Hat: Free People / Lips: Pucker & Pout - Caramel Apple
These days weekends are consisting of Todd being on call, and cleaning on Sundays. I guess when you are an adult the weekends are meant for getting everything done you didn't have time to do during the work week leaving little time for play.

One of my biggest goals for 2018 is to make sure that every weekend Todd and I get out of our being at home rut, and start doing things around town to make memories. It has become so easy for us to stay at home during our days off since we have lived the poor college life for so long, but I think it's time to start playing again....yes I still use the term play ;)

What are some of your favorite things you like to do with your significant other on the weekends?

Upholding Traditions

Happy December everyone. December is my favorite month out of the year because my birthday is on the 12th, and of course because of Christmas. December is so special to me because it's filled with family traditions like putting the tree up on my birthday, seeing the nutcracker, attending the Edmunds family Christmas party, spending Christmas Eve with my dad/in laws, Christmas day with my dad/mom, sending out Christmas cards, and many more.

One of my favorite traditions is the one that Todd and I have created. Each year we buy a new ornament for our tree costing the amount of years we've been married, and use a sharpy to write out the year on it. You can only imagine going from $1 to now $7 the ornaments have gotten more ornate. When we start to unpack the ornaments I love to go through each years ornament as I put it on the tree. When placing each year on the tree it's a happy reminder that even though we go through ups and downs in our marriage we always pull through together.

What are some of your favorite December traditions?
