The past couple months have been a struggle for me.

While this blog is primarily about fashion & fitness I like to share with you guys my personal experiences just incase it can resonate with another, and make you feel like your not alone.

Ever since December I've been noticing that I am not the same person I used to be back when I was in my early twenties. I thought I knew who Jessica was when I was in college, and little did I know that I would evolve. Through experiences, people, traveling, and just being exposed to life outside the comfort zone allowed evolution to take hold of me as a person. There's an eternal struggle where part of me refuses to accept that I am a different person from 5 years ago, but the other part of whispers in my ear giving me reassurance that change is ok.

Being vulnerable is ok.
Being different is ok.
Being true to yourself is ok.

For years I felt like I had to fit into a mold that would ultimately bring me happiness, and consciously  tried to stay within those boundaries even though it didn't feel 100% "me." Dallas has made me feel more vulnerable than I ever have felt in my life, and has allowed me to take down my walls to break the mold. I've been resenting myself for so long that I am a different person today, and recently have allowed myself to feel ok to be me. This new self makes mistakes that are no longer secrets, actively puts herself out there to connect with others, refuses to prolong being happy, doesn't allow money to determine happiness, and has a depth that is completely different from when I was younger.

If you are struggling with something similar just know that you are not alone, and you will love yourself more when you allow yourself to stop faking who you are.

Life is too short....

  1. In compete agreement. I can totally relate to this post! Post-babies, after being pregnant for the better part of two years and feeling like I lost myself among pregnancy and newborn sleep-deprivation, I was left with what felt like a shell of myself. Only when I began to embrace myself for who I am now, did I feel like "me" again. I'm a different woman than I was when I was 25, before we decided to start our family. And that's okay. Change is okay.

    1. I think we get so caught up in that changing is bad because we feel like we need to be constantly the same, and through our different experiences in life its only natural to change. Like you said change is okay, and we need to accept that we evolve as individuals in every stage of our life.
